Our Story
How Selah On Third Came to Be
Selah On Third was founded four years ago by two friends who had spent years in the beauty industry and knew exactly what they wanted to build — and exactly what was missing from the market.
Marine Reeve had been working as a qualified nail technician for over a decade, building expertise in acrylic systems, gel work and nail art with a precision and care that her clients described in terms you don't usually hear about nail appointments. Monique Gerber had been working with hair since the 1990s — 26 years of expertise as a master stylist and colourist who built real, lasting relationships with every client who sat in her chair.
Both were goal-driven. Both were specific about what good looked like. And they shared a vision: a salon where clients could feel genuinely safe and looked after. Where the expertise was real. Where the products were the best available. Where the experience was as considered as the treatment itself.
Four years later — a 4.9/5 rating on Booksy across 147 reviews. A 4.6/5 on Google across 66 reviews. Named individually by clients, across service areas, appointment after appointment. That is four years of consistent, deliberate delivery.
The Space
A Heritage Building With a Modern Soul
The building at 57 3rd Avenue, Linden has been here a long time. The original parquet floors are still there. The ceilings are still high. There is a warmth and solidity to the space that modern commercial fit-outs rarely achieve — and Selah sits within it deliberately rather than in spite of it.
The interior is modern and refined: clean lines, a calm palette, professional equipment throughout. Three dedicated beauty treatment rooms for focused, private work. An open-plan hair and nail area that is bright, airy and genuinely welcoming. A dedicated pedicure station — two chairs, proper foot bowls, warm lighting — that makes a luxury pedicure feel like the experience it should be.
The salon is on the upper floor, above the clothing boutique near Linden Lanes. Street parking directly outside, shopping centre parking next door.

Co-founder of Selah. Master stylist and colourist with 26 years of experience. Built the hair team around one principle: every stylist is a colour specialist. Books via WhatsApp.
Co-founder of Selah. Specialist in acrylic systems, rubber base gel and intricate nail art. Also trained in dermaplaning and spray tanning.
19 years of dedicated colour work. Specialises in lived-in, natural-looking results — effortless balayage, dimensional colour, expressive work that grows out beautifully.

Selah On Third is not just a salon that happens to be in Linden. It is part of the neighbourhood — Linden Hockey's sponsor in 2024, a presence on 3rd Avenue that has become part of how this suburb thinks about self-care and quality.
Linden sits at the centre of one of Johannesburg's most interesting lifestyle corridors. Parkhurst to the east, with its famous 4th Avenue restaurant strip and weekend market. Emmarentia and the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens to the south. Greenside along with independent restaurants and relaxed coffee culture. Melville just beyond.
Many of Selah's regular clients build a morning around a Saturday appointment — coffee before, treatment at Selah, lunch at Parkhurst or a walk through Emmarentia after. If you're travelling from Randburg, Northcliff, Blairgowrie, Sandton or Rosebank — allow yourself time in the neighbourhood. It rewards it.
